So, I purchased a pair of ringneck doves in late January, and we named them Gloria and Estefan. Well, Gloria turned out to be male, so now we have Esteban and Estefan. They've been driving us crazy with their non-stop cooing (beginning at 5 am!). So, I found two gorgeous lady doves and introduced them to the boys two days ago. Here's my question -- they will not leave the ladies alone! They're either cooing at them, or, um, raping them. They are NOT suave at all. The smaller male will do that wing-slap thing and tries to knock the girls off the branch whenever he can. Is this normal courtship behavior? I'm guessing I should just let nature take its course and eventually they'll pair off, but I guess I thought the whole process would be a bit more...romantic?

From what I have seen with My son's doves they did the very same thing Till they paired up. Doves & Pigeons both seem to be very aggressive when pairing, and both will court each other the same, so you will either get eggs or cooing, and bowing Boy's.
Just my observations.

Yes, this is normal

They are used to being the kings of the house. Once they get used to their new lady friends and finally choose their mates, they will be much more lovey-dovey. Right now most of the fighting is just territorial and just plan cockiness. Being lady deprived may have made them a bit crazy, LOL
