Ringneck pheasant chick with leg problem

My reference to wire wasnt the greatest. I use the poly black hardware cloth which isn't actual wire at all and its not quiet as bad as actual wire. I had 1 swinehoe out of 11 this year come out of the egg with both splayed for no good reason why other than it was a shipped egg although I don't believe shipping had anything to do with it I placed him/her with a yellow golden chick on the poly hardware cloth and 3 weeks later its now joined the others and I can barely tell it from the others. Its gonna make it. I know Im a little selfish when it comes to rescuing birds that probably shouldnt make it but thats just the way it is and I will continue to try even though the Vet may not offer advise I want to hear. Wheres Dr. Pol? ;) surely he looks at BYC from time to time? Keep up the good work and keep the faith!

The leg has been re-set and hopefully will heal! The vet did not feel comfortable amputating the leg at her age (which s/he may need later on anyway), but it is currently braced in the correct position. The femur was deformed and completely twisted.
The vet said there is no guarantee that she will make it, especially if she needs surgery. However, she's not in shock so I think she has a good chance! As soon as I got her home, she began pecking at her food.
Unfortunately, she is too small for any sort of avian-safe pain medication, so the best I can do is give her something soft to lie on and put her food and water close to her so she won't have to move much for a few days.
