Hello my 18 ringneck pheasant chicks are a week old now and i haven't lost any yet

. I have raised chickens, rabbits, quail, and turkeys. a lot of these animals are different as they grow and i have some questions about the pheasants as they grow. they were just moved to a bigger brooder.

1. When are they old enough when i can stop putting the marbles in there dish?

2. When are they fully feathered?

3. When can they be moved out of the brooder / go outside?

4. When are they old enough to put the blinders on?

5. What age can they be used for dog training?

6. any tips on how to prevent aggression

Any helps appreciated i am new to game birds and am starting up the hobby your help is much appreciated thanks!

Great questions Bruiserdog99. Wished someone would answer these as well. We just got some ringneck pheasants and not sure about them as well. We did learn tyjat their chicken starter good has to be ground up to a fine powder rather than just putting their chicken pellets in the food dish. The pellets can kill them.

I think i can answer some of these now. They were fine without the marbles at a week old buy 2 weeks they started getting there feathers in and by 3 weeks they could fly great im gonna give it two more weeks until they can move to there first outdoor pen and then another couple weeks they will go to flight pen.

If you want good birds for dog training, a trainer I know uses bobwhites because they will come home for dinner, so he just sets a collection trap and gets to use them over and over. Pheasants will just up and leave...

I also have pheasants for the first time. The reeves are fully feathered here at week 3 (but still in the brooder as I am not.taking chances with chicks that cost about 10 bucks a piece!) and the week 2 ringnecks (I have 60, 30 each from two different lines) are flying out every time I open the brooder.
:barnie I can't wait to put them outside! I keep comparing them to the quail I have at 2 weeks, the quail will be outside and off lights next week (week 3). I look at these pheasants and say "Gee! Hurry it up already!"

Haha, I am getting my first set of pheasants sunday, 12 ringnecks, 6 red goldens, and 7 melanistic ringnecks. But I am only keeping a pair of each. They will be hatching any day now, but I get them sunday :) Excited

Oh! I want all your extras. You're in ID? How far from Spokanne, WA are you (I'm 5 hours away from Spokanne, but may find myself there this fall.) I would love some unrelated RG and a start on Melanistics.
