well, it didn't freeze after all.
Annie found another tub. yesterday I filled it with dirt mixed liberally with rabbit manure,.
I was going to plant carrots, but I changed my mind/
called DD Barby and she is going to give me some everbearing strawberries./
I usually don't have much good luck with strawberries.
if they don't do well this time, I will not try again/
I have to stake the tomatoes asap.

I didn't get as cold as they said either
finally got RAIN ...a half inch so far lol

so far it has stayed above the mid 3o's at night
I am not covering anything and even leaving the tomatoes out,. so far none of the plants are doing ok. the peas are growing. the beans are not up yet. I hope the bean seeds don't rot in the ground
today looks like it will be sunny and dry,.
yesterday I bought 16 strawberry roots
I hope to get them planted today.
I found a bit of ambition and took Ollie and carried the 3pt drag up to the garage, now I have to collect the tines.
have to drop the back blade off and mount the drag.

last night I broke down and covered plants.
the weather guy said it was going to freeze hard.
I got up at 5am, it was 35F the temp is rising already so all seems to be OK.
I will cover again tonight,. better to be safe than sorry. it takes only ten minutes to do the job.

I was about 40 last night
I still haven't planted the tomatoes or peppers

My tomatoes, peppers, cukes, and butternut squash are still all in the green house. Tonight "should" be the last night of possible upper 30s. (They advertised 38/39 the last two nights, but we stayed about 40. I'm not complaining.)

I really want to get these plants in the garden!

Sally PB, if you have them in a green house, they should be robust when you put them out, so no rush.
Molpet, our frosts are suppsed to be done. but I think there might be one more iffey night left.
I am not going to stake the romatoes until the end of this week.
Yesterday Annie helped me find the tines for the 3pt cultivatpr. I took the back blade off of the tractor by myself. rough job,. the bag of bolts I need for mounting the tines were not in the box where I thought they should be,. I am not going to waste time looking for them. a trip to Fleet/Farm probably will be quicker.
I wanted shorter bolts anyhow. lol

except for corn, I am done planting.
had old beet and bean seeds, so I replanted them with new seeds.
I believe the frost days are over. I staked the tomatoes and trimmed the bottom leaves off.
stole a couple of buckets of dirt from my DD's stash. I will mix it with compost and top off the dirt in the tomato buckets. it always settles after a few waterings.
I got enough tines on the cultivator to work up the soil in the old garden plot. have a few blackberries creeping in along the edge. I will push them back with the tractor bucket,
going to work up the soil all around the corn . I will plant a cover crop of wheat or buckwheat to keep the weeds down.

I got 1 1/2 hours of tractor time in yesterday.
I chisel plowed the old garden plot.
had to push some blackberries over with the tractor bucket.
the soil worked up great despite the grass and weeds. got it worked up enough so that I can go over it with the rototiller. of course it rained real hard after I got finished. so I will wail a couple of days and drag it again. after I rototill it, I will scatter a couple of pounds of buckwheat seed . after it sprouts I will plant the corn.
we have at least 3 coons show up every night. they turn on the motion light. I think they do that on purpose so they can find the food better.
I don't know what they are finding because we don't leave the cat's food out after dark,.
I hope they go scavenge somewhere else. I really don't want them here when the corn gets ripe.
