I got 1 1/2 hours of tractor time in yesterday.
I chisel plowed the old garden plot.
had to push some blackberries over with the tractor bucket.
the soil worked up great despite the grass and weeds. got it worked up enough so that I can go over it with the rototiller. of course it rained real hard after I got finished. so I will wail a couple of days and drag it again. after I rototill it, I will scatter a couple of pounds of buckwheat seed . after it sprouts I will plant the corn.
we have at least 3 coons show up every night. they turn on the motion light. I think they do that on purpose so they can find the food better.
I don't know what they are finding because we don't leave the cat's food out after dark,.
I hope they go scavenge somewhere else. I really don't want them here when the corn gets ripe.
We have had less than 2 inches of rain for the month of may.

I gave up on sweet corn. A radio worked for about a week, so I would get a few ears.

I don't know how good my corn seed is. it is more than a year old. I am going to plant it. if it grows, it grows.
if it doesn't, there is still time to replant.
at any rate, I will have the plot ready for next year,.
it rained twice since i worked up the garden soil. I am going to add a couple more tines to the cultivator/drag/chisel plow.
have a volunteer maple tree growing at the edge of the garden. it is about 3o feet tall. I don't want the shade so I am going to cut it down.
also have some volunteer black walnuts on the yard.
those will be cut down, too.
