If you want good birds for dog training, a trainer I know uses bobwhites because they will come home for dinner, so he just sets a collection trap and gets to use them over and over. Pheasants will just up and leave...
I also have pheasants for the first time. The reeves are fully feathered here at week 3 (but still in the brooder as I am not.taking chances with chicks that cost about 10 bucks a piece!) and the week 2 ringnecks (I have 60, 30 each from two different lines) are flying out every time I open the brooder.
I can't wait to put them outside! I keep comparing them to the quail I have at 2 weeks, the quail will be outside and off lights next week (week 3). I look at these pheasants and say "Gee! Hurry it up already!"
Where are you getting your blinders from?hey im a little worried about the guy with the busted head the rest are fine now and just seem to brutalize this guy it will be about a week before i get the blinders here and im worried there gonna kill him should i separate him until i get the blinders?
