I have some ringneck eggs that I locked down last night. Went in to check on them this evening and have one already pipping. The problem is it is at the small end of the egg. It is a couple days early also. Can anyone tell me if this will be a problem or if the chick will hatch without help or hatch at all for that matter? These are my first pheasant eggs and they were shipped. Had ordered 15 but only the 4 I have in the hatcher made it unbroken so I guess you could say they had a rough ride.

Thanks in advance,
Greg

At this point I would leave it alone. It may make it. You don't want to "help" because that is where the veins are attached to the membrane and it might "bleed out." Just make sure the humidity is up to make it easier for the chick to slip out.

Thanks. I have the humidity at 70% right now. I will just watch and see what happens.

Update on egg. It is still hanging in. Looks to be moving along. But now I have a second egg pipped on the little end. Is there a reason they are doing this???

Update: I ended up with 3 of 4 eggs pipping on the little end of the eggs. Two made it out with help and one didnt make it. The 4th egg isn't doing anything yet but I am going to give it a day or so.

I read a post about this, except with chickens. Most of them mad it through. It could be a temperature thing.
