RIP Beautiful Skye

Thank you, Brad. You must mean Hawkeye, Dutch's father. He was the very first bird I ever lost. It's just life, but I want someone to make it to a ripe old age in this flock. My oldest ones are four years old now, but I've lost half of that original group to the same reproductive issues.

Yes, Hawkeye's death was sad too, but I was referring to how you may have to rehome Dutch.

Oh, sorry, Brad. My mind is all over the place today. Dutch is relegated to a pen with three girls till I can figure out what to do with the idiot. Today, I had to clip Fern's wings. She is Dutch's daughter and flew out of the pen and out of the perimeter fence, making her dog-bait and vulnerable. She'd been out for maybe an hour when we realized she was missing. I've only clipped the wings of one other bird, ironically--Skye's when she was 15 weeks old. Funny that the second bird I clipped was on the day Skye died. Fern is trying to get herself eaten before she lays her first egg, silly girl.
