So sad. I acquired one very fine Texas Longhorn. She was to be the bulk of my children's college fund. The plan was, she'd throw a calf and if I was lucky, it would be another fine heifer. Then the two would give a calf per year that I would sell and put into the college fund.
It seemed like a solid, albeit slow, plan.
Two bad things happened. First, she gave me a bull. I don't even know if he's going to be a good bull. Nine out of 10 of them are not.
Secondly, and ever so tragically, she just died. Newly in the prime of her life, and she just died for no obvious reason. Someone suggested black leg, maybe that's it.
That's the end of the college fund, and that's the end of my beautiful cow.
