RIP little drake! 😟

How would one attract crows and ravens with out attracting other undesirable wild life? Leaving out food would likely attract coyotes, rats and raccoons
I am honestly not really sure. They were here before I was so I just lucked out having them around. Supposedly they also scare off fox and other predators. I have seen a bunch of them giving a raccoon hell down by the river. I have no idea if they really do keep ground animals away for real or not. I have heard that some people have a call to attract them to your area

That is one wicked raptor you have. We’ve got them down here too. They just have a lot more feeding options given the climate / habitats here than during the winter in WV.
Maybe an armed fleet of drones could take him down.

It is BACK! - That bird is terrorizing the whole valley! One of my neighbors reported a dead chicken, another one said her chickens are refusing to come out of their house.
The friendly crows tried to harass it away but it got one of them!
My Duckies are hugging the house today. Usually after their cat-food-frenzy they all run down into the hollow where the new spring sprung and take a mud-bath - not today. They are all sitting around the house, against the walls. ☹ And they are visibly scared, when the hawk calls, everybody who fell asleep is startled and the drakes are alarming the whole morning.
Need to buy some "equipment"…

@WannaBeHillBilly , I say kill it any way you and burn the evidence. Even if you are caught you have three chances for common sense to step in. The LEO that may use discretion, the prosecutor that SHOULD use discretion, and the judge as a last resort. The .177 pellet gun is not a bad idea.
I won't be caught! Freak accidents happen all the time here in WV…

Wonder what justifies giving out the permits?
This thing is obviously quite bold to drive bomb the humans...multiple times!

I am so sorry hillbilly...if it was one of the favorites though, I would be making a trip to help you solve the problem!!

We had a hawk picking off tiny wild birds last year but I've not seen it for quite a while. The crows have set up camp pretty thick because one of my neighbors tosses all her old food out in the yard 😒 Maybe try to attract more crows to the area!
Fortunately it was one of the young drakes i got from my neighbors, very inexperienced, but now my ducks are traumatized and that hawk has attacked me. I accept that if you free-range you will loose one or the other bird, but a predator attacking a human is crossing the red line in my opinion. I'm a full grown man, i may be injured, but i can defend myself if necessary, but we also have neighbors with 2 year old kiddos…
