I will have to try and post some pics later today. This is pretty amazing really, she ended up having somewhere around 30 I suppose. Ate all but about 12 (she just kept having them and eating them and stayed at that number). After a few days all but 3 just died.....I don't know if she wasn't feeding them properly or what. When they started exploring, one of the three drowned in the water bowl (I felt HORRIBLE and changed it to a safer set-up immediately) so we have 2 babies! Those two she loved and protected. If something startled them they would run under her and she would wrap her big pinchers around them like a very protective mother. It was funny. We always joked about her saying "I love you guys most, that's why I didn't eat you". LOL Anyway, I took them away a few days ago. They are brown now and catching tiny crickets on their own so I decided they were ready. They are really cute!!!!

OMG! One of my Penelope's brothers was Percival! That is too funny! He was not the nicest...he was the first to be released into a friend's barn.

He stayed there for years and they fed him every night. Must have been possum heaven! LOL!

Glad to hear the little scorplings are doing well! That was really exciting.

Man he's cute! Look how tiny he was. I think it's great you raised him and gave him a good life. I've very sorry for your loss, I understand you were attached to him like any other pet and it's devistating when it is sudden and you don't know the cause.
IMO if they are your pets and you don't let them run loose to kill chickens and other livestock it makes no difference what species they are.

He was cute and what is cool about yours is that he was so tame and friendly. On the pic with your son. he looks HUGE.. wow
.. allthough I am not to fond of them around my house.

We had a few babies..sad story but they didnt make it.Mom was dead and they got some kind of disease before we could get someoen to take care of them.
Neat little critters tho

I'm so sorry.
I like "possums".
I live in an old subdivision where there has been massive urban growth in the surrounding areas.
I never had the opportunity to raise any, but had my share to feed along with my 2 remaining feral cats. (they have a cat door with an area to sleep in the garage. Heated beds in the winter.)
The raccoons get so annoying, I have a regular I named Otis that I provided a warm bed for in the sub zero temps last winter.
I haven't seen him this summer. He has half a tail.
I miss seeing him.

luvmychicknkids, By the way, if I ever do run into babies, what is the best formula to feed them?
I always have KMR on hand, would that work?
