8 days after a brutal dog attack, Spud, our dark brahma bantam hen, will have to be put down. Her wounds were healing marvelously, but she never quit laying eggs and suffered a major prolapse. She can't poop, tissue just keeps coming out. I imagine it was from some massive internal injury she suffered we didn't know about. My brother is going to come out this afternoon and do it because I can't. My DH is away. I didn't know you could get so very attached to chickens.

I'm so sorry. I recently had to put a 16 yr. old cat down that was so sweet. I know it hurts. But, of course, this is what good pet owners have to do sometimes. I'm proud of you for making the decision. I hope your hurt eases soon...
