Yes. A wound that is open for more than 8 hours is not a candidate for stitching because of the increased risk of infection. Some docs will let it go for up to 12 hours, but after that you are just asking for trouble. Super glue is a good way of dealing with the problem in a pinch.

Make sure the wound is absolutely as clean as can be. If you cannot get the wound spotless, then it should not be sealed shut. You will need to remove any surrounding feathers that want to hang into the wound. Once the site is clean and obstruction-free, you can attach the edges of the wound closed using the glue, making sure to leave a small opening at the lowest margin of the wound for drainage. You can use needle-nosed pliers/hemostats/tweezers to hold the wound margins together while gluing them shut. It should close up relatively easily, but takes a little while to hold closed, so don't rush it.
