RIR 6 weeks old

I just need some reassurance. My RIR will be 6 weeks next week and from what I read, its old enough to go outside. however at night the temps are still about 25-30 degrees. I'm in North Dakota. Will they freeze? I will keep them locked in the coop at night and its a large coop for 25 birds. they are in the heated garage right now but boy does it smell in there!!!!
I need some reassurance peeps!

A draft free area where they can huddle together and they'll be fine. IF they are truly 6 wks old.

I get a cardboard box that is just a bit bigger for them to all fit snugly and about 8-10" tall.
Open side down with an entrance hole cut into one of the sides, they cuddle up in there and stay warm.
