RIR and Barred Rock thread!!

We will combine these 2 breeds into 1 thread. I am going to get barred rocks and rhode island reds and I just wanted some info on them. Like egg production, how docile, etc. And which breed out of these 2 is better for egg production? Or you could just post pictures of what you have! Or give info on these breeds. Thanks

Well, I have no RIR's but I LOVE my barred rocks! They are sweet, easy to tame, and good egg layers! I am proud of them! I have not had one mean hen and they all lay well! I don't know on flaw about them and I had them for a few years!

We breed both of these birds. It makes an enormous difference as to whether you wish to discuss hatchery birds or bred to Standard, heritage type birds. The difference is pretty much night and day.
