RIR chicks.....are hatcheries OUT of them???

Might be time to think of another breed for that broody girl.... and order the RIR for a later date

I have been trying to get RIR's or Barred Rocks for about a month and I can't get them from anywhere for atleast another month from Ideal, anyone in Arkansas got some chicks for sale? There are no feed stores around me and I am soo wanting some. Anyone know if you can mix some 11 week old with new chicks and how hard would the transition be? What do you do about feeding them?

I plan on putting the new chicks in a seperate hutch untill they are 4 or 5 weeks old and not putting them together in the run until about 5 or 6 weeks of age .

Ive mixed older chickens with new chicks and its been fine, just introduce them slowly, let them see each other for a while before putting them together and just keep an eye on them.

You can get RI Red eggs on e-bay if you want to incubate them.I bought some 2 weeks ago.
