RIR Chicks - colors?

We have some Rhode Island Red chicks that just hatched. Some are colored like chipmunks, and others are solid gold/buff colored. Is this normal? Is this an auto-sexing breed?

Those aren’t Rhode Island reds. You might have a sex link instead like a red star. I raise RIR’s and the chicks are always one color.

Wow. Good to know. We have 9 hens and a rooster, all supposedly RIR, and these are their chicks. The hens/rooster all look like RIR, but we're getting this mix with the chicks.

You know barnevelders have a similar pattern as chicks and COULD be confused as RIR
