RIR Hen has a broken wing (I think) and open wounds. (Pictures)

Is that like a big ugly looking scab? I hope its not like one of those staph infections.

No it is not a scab. This picture was taken before I cleaned it. I went ahead and cleaned and cut the dried feathers off of her. She did good through the night. Regarding hawks -- yes we do have a few around. I've not seen them lately. We did see a crow chase one hawk out of its nest and grab one of her babies (which was still featherless) and drop it to the ground. I only start panicking about the hawks when our crows have left. We have an enormous amount of shelter/protection for the hens. As far as our roosters go, not one single RIR or BR will let them near. The older girls always chase my newest batch away and they certainly beat the rooster up if he tries to mount them -- it's sorta funny.

With that said, I think I messed up. I let her out of isolation yesterday. Checked on her quite a bit. She had placed herself inside the coop under some shelter and was sitting there. I went ahead and let her stay as she looked so sad by herself. This morning, I can't find her. I'm going to set the kids looking for her when they return from Karate' camp at noon. I'm praying she is hiding under a bush. Sheesh sometimes I can be so stupid.

I thank you all for the advice.

Good News! My kids found Yellow Feather under one of our bushes with one of her buddies. We put her back in an isolation pen this time. Her wound does smell a little. You know how your home might smell after frying fish? That's kind of what she smells like. It isn't very strong but does that mean infection? If so, do I give her an antibiotic? and what kind? We have a tractor supply but I don't want to give her something that will do more harm than good.

Neosporin or bacitracin on the wound. Since you have let her outside, check for maggots. Flies love wounds like this. Exposure to overzealous roosters prior to complete healing is just asking for more damage. She was probably hiding from the roosters who would eagerly mate her since she is an easy target.
