our 1 year old rir hen who was a fantastic layer, has not laid one egg since we brought home a rooster. the other girls continue to lay, and Red is not broody. And she doesn't seem to be molting. Has anyone had this happen? Will she recover?

Have you been keeping an eye on her? Is anyone (including the roo) picking on her? Is she his favorite and breed her pretty hard (she'd probably have roughed up/broken feathers on her back and/or back of her head if this was so)? Is she in good health and behaving normally? Does she have lice, mites, fleas, worms, etc.?

Hens stop laying when they are stressed. Roosters often pick one hen as a favorite and mate frequently and not gently. Or, the pecking order could have changed and she's not able to get to the water and food. People think that a rooster will make everything calm and nice in a flock. That is often not the case. One other possibility is that your rooster brought a disease into the flock. He could look healthy but be a carrier. Does she show any respiratory symptoms?
