RIR pullets or cockeral

Are wood shaving FREE or cheap where you live? I am forced to use HAY because wood shavings are so expensive. Where do you get them? It is funny about the photo with their water full of shavings. I just noticed it.

I get it from a feed store... think I paid about fifteen dollars for a 15 pound bag. I also mix it with hay.

Does she look like a pullet?

I know it's too early to tell. Just got her last week, sweetie!

all the pictures of my three AND the ones of the older ones too? Please explain.. because of the comb?

I checked the tail feathers, all are the same length...except one. I laughed! Guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer. She or he is very sweet and I'll keep this one for sure.

All of our RIRs have had a little ridge running up the forehead from the beak at first, whether male or female. It can be hard to tell from a "comb" at a young age. The one we thought was a roo this spring at about week 1 turned out to be a fast growing pullet that got a bit ahead of the rest in development for a while and fooled us.

Good luck!
