What are the differences between Rhode Island Reds & New Hampshire Reds?!

New Hampshires were developed from Rhode Island Reds after generations of selecting breeding to produce a bird that matured earlier and fully feathered more quickly so that it was ready to be butchered for the table at an earlier age than the Rhode Island Reds. Rhode Island Reds mature somewhat slower but are somewhat better layers when they reach laying age. Color wise, New Hampshires are a lighter shade of red, being a chestnut color as opposed to the darker mahogany of the Rhode Island Reds. The New Hampshire chicks are also a lighter red than the Rhode Island Red chicks.
