Raised my flock of 7 from 3 days old. Lots of snacks, feed, and handling. They have a large backyard where they free range, in a really nice coop with run at night. I am assuming at just about 5 months that they may lay eggs soon. One of my hens who normally is the most inquisitive and sweet and likes to sit on my lap has started to act aggressively.

She will attack my feet when I am walking and jump up on the chair still like she wants to sit on my lap then she grabs and twists my skin leaving bruises and marks. I have been firmly picking her up and walking with her, saying no and gently cupping her beak to try and correct the behavior.
She has been making really angry sounds. What is happening? None of her siblings are acting this way. I am used to them pecking at me a bit if they think a bug is on me or at my tattoos, but this behavior is different. She seems distressed or angry.

Chickens see the world in vastly different ways than you or I see the world. They even see different types or wavelengths of light than humans do. They also are able to gauge the health of flock mates judging by the shine or condition of their feathers. You should never wear loud or outrageous colors in your chicken coop. Along with tats and painted toe nails this will only mark you for attacks or other unwanted attention..
