50 years ago I crossed a RIR rooster on leghorn hens. If I recall correctly, all the chicks were white with black flecking. I do recall that the pullets were exceptional layers. I know that the hens matured to be primarily white with some black feathers. The cockerels we ate, but I think they were primarily white also.
