Wow! That chick is either a pullet with an extra large comb and wattles or a cockerel that is colored wrong and also has the female colored legs too.

I'm going to stick with a pullet as my guess. Here's 4 different links that all have pics of both BPR cockerels and pullets next to each other -- you can check them out to see how light the males should be:

Thanks again for your help with this.

"Pat" is quite the mystery chick. My husband & I have been looking at all the "gender" posts on Barred Rocks to try to figure it out. We were leaning towards male (mostly because of the comb/wattles) but I wasn't thinking about the dark wash down the legs.

Well, my first time at raising chickens (for the eggs) and out of 5; 3 of them are roosters, only 1 is a definate pullet and one is a hermaphrodite!

Guess the next step is to wait until Pat either crows or lays an egg. (Now, roosters will grow long curving tailfeathers, correct?)

I can let you know what Pat turns out to be in a few months if you want me to.
