I bought my first dozen chicks in 1975 for £1:00...this year I paid $30.00ea for BCM, mainly because the breed lines. It’s been quite fashionable here in CA to keep chickens for at least the last decade & the fad is growing, a bit like bee keeping. My first box of bees cost $10:00 this year a nuc goes for $185 +. Go figure
