Road trip with four chickens

We are moving to Reno NV with four of our girls. Does anybody know where to get a cheap "Chicken Travel Crate"? My husband said to put them is a large wire dog crate.

The drive 12 hrs long.

I would too. That is what I use when I transport chickens. It works well.

I would use a large dog crate, that's what I transport all of my animals in lol

Also the dog crate, but maybe some straw or pine chips on the bottom so its not slippery

Agreeing with the above posters--a large dog crate works wonderfully for transporting chickens. They shouldn't be too bad to travel with, either. Maybe just a little stinky, haha!

Check on craigslist, I see them all the time for sale. Got mine in the dump, someone was throwing it away....

We moved from Virginia Beach, VA up here to Ohio. Every one teased us for carrying our chicken in a wire dog crate. She was happy, No problems at all. Get a good stick or tree branch, give those chickens a roost.
