I would love to get involved with this! I don't raise rare birds, I work with dual purpose and heritage breeds, but it would be fun to see how things go for you all!!

The last farm magazine article I had published was when I took on the Australian equivalent of the FAA to increase the ceiling of the percentage of sulfa in fertilizers that were sprayed by a plane.

I had farmers from all over Australia calling me for my opinions on a variety of farm activist policies.

I was 15.

Wow! Boy genius! lol. Well, I think I might be able to get the eggs under the xray if I write up the paper as a legitimate research paper. Given that I chair our human subjects board and am relatively familiar with the title 26 animal protections laws (in addition to the human ones from title 45) I think we can do a feasibility study. Even if we only evaluate the hatchability of the eggs going through the airport scanners (assuming we can get valid data on radiation doses related to those machines). The recent interest in airport screening procedures has probably produced a decent amount of data on the roentgens from those machines. It would be cool if we can use the xray machine though because then we can control the MA and KVP and rad dosing. Don't get me going on a research thing... I really should be focusing on my current human research projects

This may sound really crass but I have been numbed by death and sadness as a nurse - but how many of y'all out there in chicken land flew off somewhere on your only flight in four years to bury Aunt Nellie. While you were in Aunt Nellie;s town, did not look in the local craigs list or BYC threads so find eggs? Such a waste of opportunity. Instead of just mourning aunt Bessie, hatch some eggs from her town and name the hens after her.

So, I have recently discovered ozexpat's Diary of a Crazy Chicken Man, and am reading furiously to catch up. Amazing thread, I live there vicariously while it is snowy where I am. I saw this link in there, and thought, Hey! I'm going on vacation soon!

April 21st or 23rd or so, I will be driving from the Phoenix, AZ area to the Denver, CO area. I would be glad to transport eggs if anyone wants to send/receive them, although I myself will not have an incubator to hatch in or any eggs to provide (unless my button quail get off their a**es and start making with the nookie).

It would be an 18 hour trip by car with a probable overnight stop.

Hi Walkingbird! Maybe someone will take you up on it. I think this could really help those who want to share/swap/sell eggs bc we will most certainly be more gentle with them than any mail service could be (simply because of the nature of the mail/shipping business).

Change of plans, I am now driving from Denver to Phoenix on April 8th and 9th, and driving back from Phoenix to Denver on April 15th and 16th. Road-tripper awaits any delivery requests!
