Recently my ducks realized that the neighbors have ducks. Every day now they go over to there three pekins. I have a pond and food for them allo the time. I dont want the ducks bothering the neighbors. The pond was dug last year. Could there be a bacteria problem because the neighbors said that they were sticking there beaks through the fence to drink?

Good question-- I will be watching to see what the answers might be. Although, I do offer my ducks a kiddie pool as well as their pond, and change the water as needed.

I don't know the answer. I think Ducks just want the water that other ducks/animals have. They have their own huge waterway to swim in, a regularly cleaned kiddie pool and the chicken waterer. But instead most times they walk 1.5 acres away to get to the bucket the goats drink from. Its all from the same hose and it's all cleaned daily. I think its a cute little quirk!

Could be, is it just a big stagnet pool or is there an inlet and outlet?
I beleive in the water is always better someplace else when it comes to ducks. too many times filling waterers and pools just to see them go to a old mudpuddle.....

there is no water flow.

We have 100 acres and 2 ponds but our stupid ducks cross the highway to swim in the ditch everytime it rains. Go figure. I guess the grass AND the water is greener on the other side LOL!!

I have a water dish for the cats. Filled and cleaned daily. Where do I find them drinking? The pond...by the downspout....licking water off the shower floor.

Some times ducks act like cats with feathers

Have you talked with your neighbors? They might not mind your visiting ducks. My neighbors are all awfully nice about it, and my ducks cover a lot of ground. If they do mind, you'll probably have to figure out some sort of fencing option... that would be a pain! Good luck, anyway.
