On the flat-top electric stoves that became popular some time ago, that flat surface is glass.GLASS STOVE?
I don't think we'd have a stove if ours was glass.
They don't seem to break too often (a sample size of two households over several years has not had one break, and I haven't heard it mentioned in casual conversation with other people.)
