I said if the mom's gone, throw everything out. It's not like it's an ideal location since it's a child's play area. Why would you want her to lay more eggs there? As someone else said, if they are over two weeks old, they're dead anyway. The mother Robin will find a better location and have more eggs. Robins can also be huge jerks when they have babies. I've been dive-bombed a million times for walking past a tree with a nest in it. My opinion is toss it and if a new nest starts getting built, toss it so you don't have this problem in the future. Put up some nice bird houses is a safe location. Put some drier lint and pet fur by trees. Birds love that stuff for building nests. Then you all can be happy.
