17 standard chicken eggs went into a NR360 incubator on the 18th of March. Is it normal for one of them to be rocking back and forth already?! I could have sworn I heard the tiniest chirp but I probably imagined it... The last time I candled recently the egg was hard to see through and it looked like blackness . I can stop turning them if I have to. I was going to start turning the eggies manually tomorrow anyways since there is a delayed hatch. The eggy really likes when I whistle to it 🥰

I'm pretty sure it was just positioning itself to hatch a bit early. Since this is a disaster hatch I'm going to name the eggy Earthquake! I need a disaster name for the #13 egg too!

I'm having the worst hatch rates! I think 7-8 quitters and a couple infertile. They are from older hens so.... But is it normal for all four of a hen's eggs to be quitters? I candled them on I think day 12 and at least one of her eggs looked great. Could it be the humidity or temperature? The humidity went down yesterday to 22% when it's supposed to be 40%, but Earthquake egg was happily shaking along. I also noticed that the eggs felt less warm when I candled them yesterday than when I candled them on day 12. Like those 4 were the only eggs I needed to hatch! :he I think I'm going to do a whole hatch of just this hen's eggs 😅

I guess when I ship eggs this summer I'll know whether its my hens or my incubator.

Last year's hatch there were about 18ish fertile eggs and I had 4 chicks out of 9 eggs put in lockdown. The rest of the eggs in lockdown were fully formed but didn't hatch. I assumed that my humidity was too high. 3/4 of the chicks that hatched that year were from green eggs....
