Good. How are yours?

Mine are well, but lost a welsummer yesterday. She was battling a leg problem for a long time, she was taken out of the main flock and put in with the silkies where she was doing a lot better but started getting a lot worse a few days ago. She was pretty heavy when she past so she was eating well, I don't know what made her get worse though.

Sorry about your welsummer. Maybe itnwas because of the cold?

I'm pretty sure it wasn't the cold, she slept in between the silkies every night. Hopefully whatever she had wasn't contagious, but the silkies are still acting fine, so are the other flock so that's good at least

That's good. Do silkies do well in the winter because of their fluffy feathers?

Umm well i don't know if their feathers help too much with the cold, the feathers lack barbs and so don't stay uniformed so it makes sense that more cold gets to their skin since they don't have hard feathers to " block" the cold as good as hard feathers do. But I've had very few silkies die from cold, mainly those who choose to sleep by themselves in the winter( the same chickens sleep in groups any other time of year so idk why winter makes them more solitary)
