Thanks for the reply...I am very new to this, but am really having fun, and the wife and kids love it!!! We have an adult rooster and a laying hen that were pets to the last owner and are very tame, but would like to increase our flock.

I'm looking at all options, but am leaning toward having the Easter Bunny bring a couple chicks (pullets) for the kids )...Then we can raise them ourselves to help with how tame they may be.

I have Bantam RIR'S They have SUPER PERSONALITY, They are Super Friendly and lay everyday.
They even let me pick them up. Just won BB.BV,1st,2nd. at show with them.

i will be buying her as adult because if they arent sold they will all be saughtered

i know they havent had much human contact and they live in small cages and have never been outside, so i think she will enjoy being able to come to my coop and free range and all that

I don't think it has anything to do with the breed of the chicken if he is nice or not.
Every chicken has their own personality's . Some are nice and some aren't.
We had several standard RIR. Some where really sweet but some of them where mean too and will end up in the pot.
Just keep in mind that every chicken can be turn out mean even if they start out really sweet.
We had a lot of chickens and non are the same, there all individuals.

I have fifty RIR's and raised them from babies. Very fast growers, friendly, lay big eggs and continuous! When I go into their pen they are all underfoot and I have to shoo them to be able to get in. If I sit down amongst them, they will hop up on my lap. I don't have them integrated with another breed, but they all interact well with each other. We call them the eating terminators........will eat anything and everything!

I would highly recommend them for a reliable laying hen!
