Yeah, I peel the membrane when it looks like this, because that is something to look out for like KFG said.

Yeah, that's a good example. If it's more thick and white it could bleed.

I learned that the hard way. :( Yeah, that was one of my eggs, and it needed the membrane peeled, because it was malpositioned juuust enough that it couldn't push the membrane apart.
 
The other one that almost zipped hasn't made a noise in a long time

I've done it multiple times, but it had to be done.

This is going to sound crazy, but try to cluck. Or, pull up a youtube video of a mother hen clucking and put it next to the incubator. See if there are any response peeps, it really encourages the chicks.
