Rolling around like a weirdo?

Thanks everyone! I figured it was ok because she looked so happy, but you guys have really reassured me.

Now to explain to my husband that the holes in the yard are an important part of chicken life.
 
My Silkies do it and get completely filthy (they are white). But then an hour later they are perfectly clean again. Weird.

They're more like shallow depressions than holes. My dogs (and invading moles) create the holes! Most of my hens make the depressions against the edge of the property, or beside something. They're rarely in the middle of the yard. Once a year in the late Fall we go around and fill them in so they can start over

I love watching them take dirt baths, but I especially enjoy the sunbathing. I was new to chicken keeping last year, and when I first saw my Rh. Island Red sprawled out (legs & wings open) on top of a straw bale I was rolling! They're so entertaining, and much more intelligent than I expected.
