All this time Izzy had been snapping at coyotes who were trying to sneak up behind her, and facing off the one she had had the conversation with, waiting for a chance to sink her teeth into it.

Suddenly she heard Brin make a cackling sound and saw the coyote glance up for a split second, exposing its throat! She seized her chance, and dove for it. In a couple of seconds it was dead.

She whirled around and the first thing she saw was Norris, laying on the ground. "oh no!" she thought. Then she saw Silver and Opal and Murry!

Masaki was following the commotion, and when he came upon the pack and Izzy, he thought "I have to help her"... then he jumped in and challenged the coyotes! He could feel himself surging!

He crouched low and threatened the coyotes that were attacking his alpha....
