Romance Meets Reality

I personally could never sell any of my birds knowing that they are destined to be butchered. Then again, I’m a vegetarian so I don’t like the thought of anything being butchered.

I have had numerous boys that I have had to rehome. I always make sure that they go to good homes where they’ll have lots of girls ;)

I’ve even had a couple aggressive boys, they were more difficult to rehome. But I did it, one went to someone who had a flock of hens and wanted a really protective rooster. The other went to someone who wanted him just because he was pretty, the aggression wasn’t a problem for them since they had no kids and didn’t mind it.

But this is all my personal opinion and experience. I don’t think you should have to second guess your actions though. If you’re upset about it now, maybe next time just find them a home where they won’t be dinner. What’s done is done, so don’t stress about it!

The quickest way for one of my animals to earn a one way trip to the dinner table is to be aggressive, either to people or other animals.
I will NOT tolerate it.
Rory, my gorgeous EE rooster, met his end only days after a nasty sneak attack. Was I sad to see a chick I loved and raised with all the TLC in the world loose his head? Of course. But I don't second guess myself, and I don't miss his untrustworthy butt.
