ok after reading all the stories of roosters attacking I thought......yeah... I thought... I'd be
more prepared
Went walking in the run to the coop door and pow right in the back of the legs
He's 6months old and if he's lucky he will live to see 6 1/2 months
I'm ready for the little so and so next time
The shovel is setting outside the run door.
I can laugh at the image now but it sure wasn't funny at the moment

My advice is: Always wear mudboots, never lean over without IDing roo's position - avoid face shot. You could eat him, or go dual-use with the shovel. If our roo didn't at least test his mojo every few days I'd think he was losing his grip (I wait until he's standing in front of me with head down and hackles extended, then I reach down and pick him up and flip him under my arm - from that location he surveys the world like he's King Farouk...). He's really very tame, but he is a rooster.

Check out this info. on roo control (best I've found): http://shilala.homestead.com/roosters.html
