Hi there!

Over the summer we picked up some eggs to hatch for a broody hen and got this rooster, our boy Wallace, out of it. I have emailed the farm with these photos to ask what they think he might be, but haven’t heard back! Any thoughts here? He is very calm with us, not necessarily affectionate, but allows us to pet him and always hangs near by if we are out with him. He is definitely trying to find his place in the flock, but I don’t feel he is aggressive with the ladies. So, lightly feathered feet, mild temperament, rose comb? seem to be Wallace’s distinguishing features

He could be Rhode Island Red to a Brahma. My first thought was Cochin to EE due to weight and comb. The comb looks like a cross of a single to a pea comb. The color matches the RIR, same with shank color, and the hackles and feathers on the shanks match the Brahma, plus giving that pea over single comb comb.

Could happen with pure pea comb as well. Depends on the quality of the pea combed birds.

Same Pea Comb but with short horns on it.

Yes, but if you look closely, especially at that last picture, you can see there's a single comb in that mix. It has very dominant fingers, which is from the single, not the pea. The pea is where the different "layers" are coming from; the points on the side that resembles a pea. ;)

I know what you're talking about, but I'm certain it's an odd Pea Comb rather then the Pea Comb mixed with Single Comb.

But it's possible as well it could be a mixed Comb. But only way to truly be sure is to breed to a single Comb bird since it's a recessive gene.

Found a picture of Big Boy from 2020. He's Easter Egger X Brahma.

Though his comb lacks points, it shares similar shape.
