Illia, you are right in that hatchery stock aren't good quality Dels. I believe it was SpeckledHen that once mentioned that somewhere in the past, Dels were bred with columbians and such genes could be the case with this little guy.

I just had some chicks in a "Hatchery Surprise" from Cackle and they were the "California Whites". As chicks they were yellow with a random black spot or two on them. Some of them developed the colombian type coloration in the hackles. They are a cross between white Leghorns and California Greys. This little guy looks a lot like them.
