I know he's a boy. But I'm in denial. Tell me he isn't a roo. 😂😭 it's always got to be my favourites! This one has the most gorgeous personality. I'm so bummed. His sister has started to hate me recently & this dude just keeps getting friendlier. He's a rhode island red x australorp. I wish I had space for another roo!

Awwe, it's definitely a Roo but if he's a sweetie, maybe try selling him or keeping him if you can. Ive raise straight run chicks a few times so I always end up with Roos. I have a policy of they stay unless there's a problem (be it developing human aggression or overbreeding/fighting with other Roos)

I have debated trying to keep him to see how he goes, we already have 3 other working roosters 🫣 I'll see how things progress, he's such a lovely boy. If I sell him I'd love for him to end up with his own girls. I'd just hate for him to end up in a crockpot. He's too nice for it haha

made me think what all my roo's do .. 1 started living in the horse barn and attracted a hen with a nest. they hatched the hen left once the babies grew up and now that roo has his own group this is the roo that had been hanging out with my lgd. 2 roo was a trouble roo fighting everyone he paired up with a turkey and they run and chase each other but they hang out as friends. 3 not sure what he does I see him coming and going but never see him go for the hens he is just there looking pretty. 4 and 5 hang out together and roost together. 4 roos roost in the main barn and the 5th roo is in the horse barn.

Hope it works out and your new roo finds a place in your group. They are my favorites too.

That makes me feel better that he & his dad could maybe coexist! We have separate pens & runs for breeds that we keep together to not mix. Then a main big mixed flock that free range, this little guy comes from that group, so could potentially work out if my rhode island continues to accept him 🤞
