My RIR's getting to the laying age, when I start to give them layer crumbles or layer pellets will this have any effect on my Roo?
Thanks for the info.
BYC rocks.

Most folks I know feed their roos the same layer feed that the hens eat. I do. It's had no effect on my rooster, other than him being a butthead from time to time; but I think that's from testosterone, not calcium.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with the butthead thing.

Dittos on the butt head...

also, thanks for the post.. I'm about to start mixing feed to migrate over to full layer feed in the next few weeks and had the same question regarding feeding the rooster.. You answered my question.. thanks

Yup. My drake eats as much crushed oyster shell as my laying hens. I used to have an egg-eater who ate it too, even though she never laid an egg in her life.

I hate egg eaters!
weird cirmumstance: an egg eater who went broody... would never have any chicks!
