My WR roo finally started minding his manners around the girls. Just last week, I was reading on this wonderful site about roo manners and thought if he kept it, up he would have to go (we never planned on having a roo, "she" was a he).

Finally though, he's finally behaving properly. He crows only when necessary (which seems to be a lot

), lets the girls have first dibbs on the treats. He is not trying to just randomly jump on the girls backs and peck at their head, during his futile attempt to mate with them

He may just end up sticking around

Glad to hear it. A teenage rooster is not a pretty thing. It's like having about 10 thirteen year old boys in the house.
They grow out of it, the roosters that is.

I agree, it is hard to watch them without scolding them but they do get it eventually! Glad there's no roo stew for you

Our roos came into their own and those that didn't were quickly dominated by the girls until they submissivley gave in!!

Can I ask "how old is your roo?" Mine is 18 weeks or so and he has no manners, takes the food first, jumps on the hens who will allow it (not to gracefully I may add) and I was wondering if he would grow out of it. ???

My roo is about is about 18 weeks and was so obnoxious these last couple of weeks that I was seriously considering inviting him in for dinner.
He is much calmer now and taking good care of the ladies while steering clear of me.

Some of it is going to depend on the breed. Some breeds just mature slower than others.
