Oh, that's great! I thought wattles were absent in EE in general. Good to know I should keep an eye out for them in Roos!the lack of wattles made me decide on pullets.
Thanks! I'll be sure to keep posting pics!I think Pearl is a pullet and Fluffy is cockerel. Fluffy’s comb looks wide and red. Gorgeous birds!
Following thread - would love updates.
Gotcha. That's a really helpful distinction in ID'ing crowing habits! Though...my confidence in defining the noise coming from my coop is very low.Crowing hens are pretty rare, and really only occur in mature hens, not pullets. Pullets will be loud from time to time, depending on lots of factors, but won't crow.
I agree with @Acre4Me, I think Pearl is a pullet. Not sure about Fluffy. Seems to have a pretty red comb and thick legs, but not sure about the feathers quite yet.
EEs dont have wattles.the lack of wattles made me decide on pullets.
I took a close up pic of the feathering around the neck. I had read that some feathers are rounded and some pointed. Can you tell the difference in feathering here?Gotcha. Thanks for your help!!
Well, hmm. It's possible they are older than I thought. I did purchase them at the farm store, so could they be leftovers from previous weeks? Are you sure on the age? That comb on the white and black one is screaming cockerel but at 11 weeks there should be more male patterning on the feathers. To me, they both look like younger cockerels or pullets at point of lay which would be starting at around 15 weeks.
