Roo or Hen?

I keep getting mixed thoughts on this one. Any help would be nice. Thank you

It looks like a roo, judging by the large comb and feather crest; you can see the start of hackle feathers and a slight curve starting on the tail; all rooster characteristics.

I agree with Jessie. The wattles in the last picture are the giveaway. But it depends on age, too. If this bird is under 15 weeks or so, then it is definitely a boy.

Not crowing yet by an EE his same age is crowing and my Sultan who is about 19 weeks is crowing. I know Brett is getting picked on bc his top feathers are gone but we don’t know who it is that’s picking on him

Hmmm, that makes it a little more difficult, because at that age a pullet could have the big wattles. The pictures are a bit blurry, so it makes it difficult to tell if there is male specific feathering. But I'm still thinking Bret is a cockerel because of body conformation, thick legs and the large wattles. It's not 100%, though.

As for who is picking on him, it's gonna be hard to tell unless you see it happening. So long as blood isn't drawn, he will probably be okay. In fact, it might be good that he has better vision at that age because it will give him more confidence and a better chance of doing well in the pecking order. But if blood is being drawn and he is being picked on mercilessly, then it might be a good idea to separate him, at least for a while.

Lovely cockerel you have there

Chickens all mature at different times, some early and some late.
My brahma cockerels have still not started crowing yet and they’re 7 months old.
