Hi there,

I have a 7 week old americana and 7 week old eater egger that were sold to me as pullets. I’d would like to confirm. Thanks in advance!

Americaunas and Easter Eggers are actually the same thing if you didn't know. :)
The darker colored one is a cockerel, and the lighter colored one is a pullet.

Americanas and Easter Eggers are the same thing, but it’s important not to mix it up with the purebred Ameraucana. The odd spelling is a marketing tactic that hatcheries and breeders use, and it gets the best of a lot of people!

I’m going to have to agree with @Tookie : the black and white EE is a cockerel, and the orange/brown one is a pullet. The chick on the right in the last picture may also be a cockerel but I’m not sure… what breed is it? Looks like a potential silkie mix…

Yes, I think the silkie/ olive egger mix is also a cockerel too. Now, what should I do? Is there anyplace where can I drop them off

That chick in the last two pictures I'd say needs to wait a few more weeks to sex, but I am thinking cockerel.
There's not really any place to drop them off...you'll have to rehome them or dispatch of them yourself.

It’s worth a google search in your area, or on a local chicken Facebook group. There’s a few farms around where I live that will take any unwanted chicken and assumably eat them. I’ve had a tough time rehoming my silkie cockerel, but he’s got some genes that make him less than desirable. I think I’ll dispatch him myself if I can’t find a home. I would prefer he only has one bad day, since so far he’s has a pretty great life, vs getting picked on by countless other cockerels/roosters til someone else inevitably does the same.

Thank you for the info! I will do a search. I’d rather drop them off, than do it myself. I do understand that is better off for them to have a bad day, than to suffer a miserable life.

We should start a movement “free the rooster”.. where all laws surrounding “no roosters in city limits” magically go away 😂

I totally get it. I’m talking a big game, but I’ve been delaying all integration plans and allowing him to screech me awake every morning at 530 am lol, good luck to you on this not so nice side of chicken keeping.

It would be nice to be able to keep them, but unfortunately I do not think this will happen any time soon 😢
