Roo or hen?

I don't mind keeping them its just they wake everyone up crowing early don't they and the neighbours won't be too happy?

They shouldn't make noise at night and/or if they are in a darkened area. The neighbors should not complain. This is not any different than a dog barking. Note why people put covers on their parakeet or Parrot cages....to keep them quiet.
I did have one roo that would crow at night outside in the coop.....all night! on full or near full moons, particularly if their was snow on the ground.
Here on the farm, our closest neighbors are 3/4 mile away. I can hear their dogs barking and I'm sure they can hear my roo, when he's outside during the day.

Here is some good thing about getting a roo. No worries of egg bound, prolapse, internal egg laying(no cure and very common and horrible death) and such that is common with big egg layer breeds. Bad thing, they may start fighting when they get older, but maybe if no hens are around they wont.

ps. I always heard horrible stories of mean roosters chasing after kids and adults. I was scared with my 1st few roos. But not one was ever mean and I had 4 different roos of different breeds.

Looking like roosters. As they get a little older they pointy saddle feather should show up. The comb and waddles will get bigger and be pretty red. Also their legs get thicker. If they are just pets there are ways to keep rooster noise down in the morning. If you wanted hens for eggs you may have to rehome them and try again. My first batch ended up being 4 boys.

X2 Look like roosters.

I got 12 new little ones this spring. I'm not sure on my RIR(not pictured) but I think they are all hens, but it does appear that I've got 2 roos. See photo both on the left. I'm actually kinda glad there was at least one roo in the lot of supposedly "pullets". My last roo died last year of old age. We sure miss the crowing. I hope these two can get along. But likely I'll have to narrow it down to one or the other.
Seems like a common theme here, people getting a chick(s) or chicken from a friend or neighbor, and hoping or misled for a hen but it turns out it is a roo. I think these "acquaintances" are finding an opportunity to rid themselves of the roos and not being straight forward with the consumers. Obviously the previous owners don't want to part with their hens. I wouldn't either, but I'd at least be honest with what sex I think/know I was parting with.

I got a rainbow mix and no names given of type when I purchased, I don't know what breed the roo is on the left, and not even sure what he is going to look like when he is full grown. Interesting colors and never had this type before. One thing I noticed was how much lighter the black/white Barred? was way early on compared to the hens of his type. After reading on this site, that lighter color is a give-away on it being a male. Just thought I'd throw that in if you do end up getting more chickens for yourself and don't get taken for another roo. The hen is shaking her head so I added another photo of her below. Oh another thing I noticed this brown speckled breed does seem to be more flightier(skittish) than my RIRs.
