You know, touchy subject, but back when the horse meat market was still going no matter how old or crazy of a horse you had, you could always get $300 from a meat buyer and good horses kept their value. Once the meat market was banned, horse prices tanked and starvation and abandonment increased. People were taking them and dropping them off out in the desert, most horses that are used to being kept can't survive and just slowly starve and dehydrate to death, super gross. I'm not excited about horse slaughter, but culling horses just like culling chickens is a bit of a harsh reality. I never sold anything to a kill buyer, I'm a firm believer in being responsible in breeding, handling, and selling. I don't care how precious your back yard mare is, don't breed unless you or someone you know are committed to giving it a good life for 25 to 30 years.Uh, sorry, but pretty low. If there was a market for unwanted roos, then they wouldn't be unwanted![]()
