Roo or Pullet?!

Yep, look at the legs on that first one. Definitely looks like a set of roo gams to me!

The second one looks like a pullet.

Thanks everyone! So I guess it looks like we have a pullet and a roo then! We have never had a Roo before... This one that is suspect to be a roo is very friendly just like the girls, but is more hyper/spunky!

I guess I am just wondering if having 1 rooster with 10 hens is okay? Will he stay sweet/friendly?? We socialize and treat our chickens like pets, so I hope he doesn't get mean...I know some roo's can get mean and protective over the hens. Anything we can do to prevent that from happening?
Thanks!

BRs are my thing. Trust me, the first one is male, second female. I love BR roosters, generally (I own two), but that is more an individual thing than a breed thing, the temperament. Handling him won't change who he is--in fact, if he has a tendency to be aggressive, it will bring that out sooner.

akaRachel, yours are BR crosses, not pure BRs. Sexing rules change up a bit when they are a cross. The rooster is a black sexlink.

1-roo (and a very handsome one at that!!!)
2-pullet

I am guessing this based on the wider white bars on the first one and the size/color of the combs.
