Roo problem - how to tame a mean one

I pushed/threw mine clear across the coop one day. Didn't really mean to, but he started attacking me. He kept going at me and I got mad and just stuck out my hands mid jump and pushed him as hard as I could. He went about 10ft, and smacked into the wall. Since then, he give me the stink eye, but has never even attempted to go after me. I can walk him backwards around the whole run, and he stays about 1ft from me. Luckily he has really little spurs, but I did get a bruise on my leg from his beak.

Chopping block, scalding water, denuding and coq au vin.

I wish you luck, but rooster-taming has never worked for me (not with the serious cases). I put weeks and weeks into one bird and into every one of his sons as they too proved to have the monster genes.

Never again for me. But I wish you luck.

I must admit I've never owned a persistently mean roo....I'd never let it get past the first incident. I've had a few that tried the first incident.

This behavior was dealt with quickly and aggressively and stopped all future aggressiveness. One just has to flip it on the roo....what he did to you, you have to do to him. The surprise, unexpected and very aggressive invasion of space, unwelcome and sudden attack to the body(I'm not saying you have to hurt the roo, most roo attacks to humans and to each other rarely ever connect fully or cause damage. They are designed to scare and intimidate.) with a light stick or rod and then invasion of his space in surprise ways until he reaches a state of wariness around you instead of you around him.

This all takes about 5-10 min. of action after the first aggressive incident and then only a couple of seconds a day for a couple of days. I've never had a roo repeat aggressive behavior after this training. It's not inhumane, it's not labor intensive, it's not about trying to be a chicken/roo and it has been 100% effective for me each time.
